Chilean police arrested two men, who transmitted live football matches via Internet without permission from proper rightsholders. Men probably captured matches at home and then uploaded live streams to popular football sites.

These individuals are administrators of FytbolChile.net and VeoPartidos.com web sites on which they illegally transmitted live matches. They worked independently but both took money from advertisements on their pages. Losses to local cable broadcasters account for several million dollars.

The original signals were acquired from legitimate subscription services such as Fox Sportsand and then captured and retransmitted to Internet web sites. One of the alleged individuals has been doing this for about five years.(ns)
