Brothers from Ciudad Real Detained as a Result of Laliga’s Activities

Recently in Spain, the fight against piracy on the Internet has intensified.  Several illegal IPTV networks offering over 1000 pay TV channels with hundreds of thousands of users were closed. Thanks to LaLiga’s activities, arrested brothers from Ciudad Real for illegal distribution of the pay-tv signal to 3,000. subscribers.

The investigation began in October 2017, as a result of a complaint lodged by LaLiga. Two brothers were accused of committing a crime against intellectual property. On the website, the suspects offered telephony, internet and television, but didn’t mention about the transmission of football matches. Customers were interest in legal offer, but brothers offered a much cheaper option containing pay-TV channels. In this way, they managed to obtain 3000 subscribers, including owners of pubs and restaurants. It is estimated that the brothers received about 500,000 euro per year from this illegal activity.
