91% of Russians Use Pirated Content on the Internet

A survey conducted by the developer of the ESET antivirus program in September shows that most Russians use pirated content on the Internet.

Research has shown that 52% of respondents use illegal copies of video games, 43% watch movies, TV series and programs on pirate websites, 34% listen to music from illegal sources, 19% use unlicensed software, and 14% read pirated electronic books. Only 9% of Russian users among 2,000 respondents excluded themselves from the consumption of pirated online content.

The main reason for such a high level of consumption of pirated content is unacceptable price of legal products – this reason alone was indicated by 75% of respondents. (ns)
