Harmful content is advertised as pirated software and games, trying to lure users. This problem is plaguing many platforms, but the most on Facebook and Google groups.

For months, scammers have used Facebook to promote their malware links by events option. It has been done through numerous accounts for example with Fix Problem account. Despite reports, many events are still available and new ones appearing.

Initially, Facebook posts directly connected to sites where malware content could be downloaded, but have recently been switched to Google groups. Perhaps because these links are more difficult to detect automatically.

People using these links do not receive copies of free software, games or movies. Instead, they download infected files, although the landing page suggests otherwise. (ns)
